I think others here are exaggerating. You can get a decent place in the 95124 zip code - good commute, good schools. It may not be a mansion, but it’ll be alright.
95124 has moved into the $2.3-2.5M realm
Depends on sft. You can still find 1200-1300 sft places for 1.7 in 95124
Milpitas, Santa Clara
Why a SFH only? Have you considered townhome?
Try 95124, it's a good trade off of commute distance, community and schools. I bought SFHs for my clients there and they have appreciated a lot this year.
Campbell, Santa Clara, some parts of Sunnyvale like 94085, willow glen, Cambrian.
Try 95050 lots of houses for sale, right in the center of silicon valley (close to Google, apple , nvidia). Also lots of houses are getting upgraded here(I live in. 95050), so the prices are now rising coming in same range as 95051. Best part electricity is with santa clara utilities, so you can get rid of PG&E(if you don't use gas). The prices are still around 1.5 to 1.6 but it will soon match 95051 which is around 1.8 / 1.9
Cambrian 95124
Depends on how much you’re willing to commute and how big of a house you want. Santa Clara is going to have a lot more compromises. If you’re 1500ish sqft houses you can try sunnyvale, willow glen and Cambrian. If you want a bigger house, you can try areas near the ones mentioned above.
If you don’t care about schools, lots of pockets of sanjose, Milpitas, Bereyessa, Campbell are around that price point, you may not get the best one though but a decent home.
