I’ve been getting emails recently for design verification, rtl design, fpga etc contracting roles asking for 10+ years of experience and offering $45/hour. These are US based roles on 6 month contracts. Please tell me this is a joke and nobody is actually making so little with 10+ experience in a major US semi geo.
Nannies in the bay area can make more than that with no college degrees.
I've seen a bunch of these for verification. Some fpga, but not so much design. Saddens me to see DV commanding so little respect that these contract positions are even a thing
For me it comes in bursts of random emails every few weeks or so. Basically a lot of random headhunter companies inquiring about being ready for a 6-12 month contract role. No info on the actual company doing the hiring in the email, but its 99% always a Meta 6-month role in Menlo Park or Horizon Labs, random Bay Area startups low-balling for YOE, or IT consulting companies completely irrelevant to my career (did you even read my damn resume bro). At this point I just auto-delete anything with "contract", "Menlo Park", or "with conversion" because it's always these low-effort recruiters and roles.
WOW that's really low balling. Minimum $100/hour.. I think
I wouldn’t even settle for that for a contract role. Remember you have no company provided benefits.
