They have “same pay work anywhere” culture. Imagine living in Vietnam, Thailand for a few months and traveling to Korea China Japan, and having weekends on Mexico and Hawaii. You get paid 500k as a senior swe and work on CRUD application with the most admirable wlb Just imagine that. Working in Airbnb as a senior or above is a lottery ticket to travel and have lots of sxx
Good luck getting in. Had picture perfect interviews, got a strong yes in four rounds, no in one round just because of communication gap and didn’t get offer after 1.5 months of interviewing. And yeah - the work inside is mediocre at best. I know 3 staff engineers there, 2 left in the past few weeks, last one might leave too, they have no good projects to show for staff level and feel like their skills decayed.

I wonder if they need backfills 🤔
Also the way your horses are running in your mind, it won’t matter if you’re in the Bay Area or in Thailand, the only sxx you’re getting is from paid workers.
Yes, but you work on a shitty CRUD app. Have some self-respect
Relax dawg, it’s just a job
Can you get lots of sxx without Airbnb?
OP may I ask what nationality you are
The problem with Airbnb is the same as with Google, but Google does it on a higher scale. You can get interviews, you can even pass the interviews, but you will never team match. Airbnb and Google are the only two companies where my approved hiring committee result has expired.

Same pay within US or any country?
Yes
Anywhere within US pay doesn’t change. You can work remotely from another country up to 90 days but not permanently.
