Do you ever get nervous taking a vacation?
My car insurance covers USA/Canada but planning to rent a car in Spain. Credit card seems to cover the car itself but what about liability insurance? What kind of insurance should I buy? Also what about crossing country borders? Any restrictions?
Rent only from Avis or another U.S. company and take their full insurance. Don’t rent from local car rental companies.
Use AutoEurope as a buffer between local rental companies. Big ones like Hertz or Avis are locally operated won’t get you the best deal possible for what you might need. Luckily you are not in Italy which most CCs have a coverage exception for
Take pictures of the car when you drop it off because drop off is very different than in the US, nobody receives the car in my experience. I did have the same experience expressed here earlier. Last year for the first time after having rented several times without issue, they claimed damage that I had not seen but 1) I had no proof to disprove them and 2 the charge was reasonable if in fact the damage was caused by me.
In Spain they rip people off. Be careful when renting a car.
Careful about what? I can rent one from expedia - is there anything I should be aware of?
They basically mark the car damaged after dropping off. You get charged extra
