Citations on patents

I have 5 patents from my previous companies. The citation count is at 4 total. I’m working on building my profile for EB-1A. There are services that claim to increase citation count of my work. Are they legitimate? Is there any value add by gaining citation this way.

EB1 will be EB2/EB3 soon for backlogged countries 🤣

EB1A is being abused over the last 2 years and there is very high scrutiny from USCiS. Most lawyers are minting money from selling this fake opportunity. Beware

Meta faangdummy OP Apr 26

There’s not a lot of fake in my case. These are genuine patents. I am working on judging/reviewing side of it. I lead teams for products that are very highly regarded in the respective field, I can get reference from VP and CTO. citations is what I’m considering getting from this service.

Buying citations is not genuine and there is scrutiny around this specific aspect

Soon you’ll have to leetcode for EB-1 in addition to this prior work retro

Quality of citations matter. It has to be from an independent group and they will have to write a letter about how using your paper/patent helped them achieve their innovation. So merely bumping up citation numbers will not help. And just getting cited along with a bunch of other papers will not quality for “substantial influence”

I’ve 2 publications with around 30 citations. 2 patents pending, I’ve been a peer reviewer for conferences when I was in school. Would I be elegible for upgrading to EB-1A? My PD is 2016 EB-2 India.

Pending patents don’t count. You will get an RFE saying anyone can submit a patent request and USCiS considers “granted” patents as innovation
