Does compensation change when switching form a non-tech to tech role at Amazon?
Hello, I am planning to switch from an L5 non-tech to an L5 tech role. Does amazon revise compensation in such cases since tech salaries are higher than non tech roles?
how is this allowed ? did you get a new degree ? or is it just tc chasing ?

Switching from non-tech to tech usually requires a tech assessment from someone outside your org, and then leadership approval. I moved from PM to TPM and it did come with a pay bump. It’s hard to say how much of a bump was due to this because it was combined with my annual performance review and I was TT. My whole process did take about a year.
So your compensation remained the same when you switched roles and you received a bump during your annual compensation review?
