Founder salary

Suppose you start a company and get 6 mil on seed funding. How much of that can you pay yourself? Surely there’s a limit to let the company be built.

About 5 mil Haters will say it's a lot. Ignore them 😁

Around $200K sounds appropriate

250k be comfortable but motivated

Pay myself a dollar and let business take care of my personal expenses

600k should be acceptable. Hertz is valued around 1.75B and the CEO(not even the founder) is paid 182M annually. So 10% for CEO. Could push higher for founder

Microsoft DesiStud Apr 26

That 178M is per year. Your links says good total compensation was 182M this year. I mean sure, get 45k in cash and 555k in stocks grants which is immediately diluted. Even better for taxes.

As much as the VC will let you get away with. That won’t be much by the way 😁 especially in the first two years

About 100k max. - no one gives u money to pay urself. They give u money to build the company!

It really depends on the round, current revenue, grossing on unit economics etc. I just raised 1M preseed and wrote myself $96K per year plus health insurance for family.

$180k but more than $100k will be questionable

it depends. generally, try to shoot as close to "livable" depending on your situation. that could mean 55k for some, or 250 for others. i do think it is a good idea to save budget to pay your key early hires better, and way accelerate your pay with milestones, new funding etc
