I’m a ENG and my manager found out I’m Jewish. (They have a Palestinian flag in their background). I didn’t tell them I was, I hide it as much as I could. But they found my X account and saw I was countering Pro Hamas related tweets and pleading for peace. My manager asked me why I didn’t tell him I was Jewish when I joined the team, he also asked me some questions about if I support the genocide and he’s worried my reposts on social media might be endorsing a genocide. The post in question were in regards to my daughter at uni who was blocked out from going to class because she’s Jewish by pro Hamas protestors 😔 The professor found out she was Jewish and all semester she’s had an A now all the sudden she getting Ds and Fs She is a junior and has never gotten an F in her life until now.

This^ you should file a complaint. The fact that your manager mentioned “why didn’t you tell you were Jewish” is a huge red flag and grounds for discrimination. You should file a formal complaint and document this! Because the next thing that may hit you would be a termination or some form of retaliation. These loons are illogical and erratic at times.

Well I think you already have what you need to know when your manager used terms like "endorsing a genocide". IMO the best you can do is to write your manager a very brief 3-4 sentences note saying: 1. you appreciate your manager voicing his views on modern politics. 2. you didn't feel your Jewish heritage is a thing the workplace needs to know. 3. you were unsure how to respond to him when he asked why you were "endorsing genocide". 4. you hope your freedom to hold a personal opinion re Hamas will be respected, and that the workplace you two share can be kept free of political discussions. then you start documenting your successes at work, and start to look for another job. if your manager fires you, you have some black & white paper trail showing potential discrimination. and of course, keep your personal social media accounts locked down from now on, especially when it comes to contested issues like these. i happen to not have much of an opinion here but i can understand why many people do.
