Hi all, Position is for a principal level in HW. I have an offer from Samsung in Austin, which adds up to a pretty good bump to my current TC provided that the bonus and long term incentive plan are paid out regularly. I’m hearing mixed messages from folks I know and the recruiter regarding the payout. Recruiter has mentioned that both MBO and LTIP are paid out provided that expectations are met, but the offer letter has the word “may” for both payouts. Question is, as long as I meet expectations and deliverables, will the MBO and LTIP be paid? In the last few years, were these paid out regularly at SARC? Is there a dependence to the level regarding the % of engineers who meet expectations and receive these payouts? TC: 350K #samsung #intel

EXCITING: GPT 4 Release!
Is 350 your current tc at Intel or what Samsung is offering? Also YOE?
Intel, 14
Bonus depends on company performance and personal performance. If company performance is zero, no bonus at all that is why “may LTIP is not for the first year, LTIP is pay after 2-3 years of service. It is vested and depending mostly on your performance STIP is vested in 3 years since you join company. It is fixed yearly pay on the date you join
Thank you! Has the bonus been paid out in the recent years at target for SARC? I am eligible for LTIP after completing a year of service, correct? If I get a meets expectation, I should expect to get LTIP at the end of my first year and vests in 3 years? Basically my TC calculation is base pay * ( 1 + bonus percent + LTIP percent) at steady state, assuming I get both bonus and LTIP with meets expectations every year. Ignoring personal performance, which I am not too concerned about, how has the company been doing in recent years? Ex: Intel did not pay a proper quarterly bonus in the last year and I expect the same trend this year. Can you say anything like that for Samsung? I do not know STIP, contract only shows LTIP. There is something called retention bonus in the contract that vests starting immediately, it sounds like it is just named differently in the contract, but same as STIP.
First 2/3 years: base *(1+bonus percent)+ STIP (differ than LTIP) After 2/3 years: base*(1+bonus percent + LTIP percent)
Its been 1 year since I joined Samsung, recruiter mentioned SIP/LTIP in my total comp, we haven’t anything on it yet this year from management even after asking for it several times. They have no clue. Org: SARC-ACL
What is your new offer?
What’s the new offer at Samsung?
Samsung SARC often hires to fire. The culture is bad. I would work elsewhere for less pay.
Yea dude. All bonuses have “may” to payouts but you will always make bonus based on their payout schedule. Bonus are never guaranteed like salary, hence the word “may”.
Agreed, but this is why I am looking for insights from the employees whether these have been paid out historically.
Ex-Samsung guy here, they’re guaranteed for the first year, but from the second year onwards these payouts at your manager’s mercy
