I recently got layed off from a startup. The severance package offered by the company is 1 week pay. Can I take any legal action against the company. I heard minimum 2 months of severance is basic from any company. Please let me know if any suggestions. Is there any minimum severance package law when layoff.
2 months is the warn act but thats for larger companies who are laying off a certain amount of folks so its likely a start-up would not apply. The 2 months is technically only a notice period but larger companies tend to pay people without them having to work. So in short-you can’t take legal action even though it sucks!
depends where u stay, man. check the laws.
