Is 2023 Subaru outback a reliable vehicle? I read issues with reliability and long term issues like head gaskets failing.
I had a Subaru and so did my daughter and they were both garbage. They were unreliable and cheaply made. Go for a Honda, Toyota or Mazda.
bad..
How long are you thinking? My 2017 outback runs great with minimal maintenance and lots of use, both city and forest roads
It’s not bad car but what are you looking for ?
Any idea how the resale value of Subaru outback is?
Subaru Outback do hold resale value pretty decently
As a general rule, Subarus are reliable if you take care of them. Toyotas and Hondas will tolerate a lot of neglect and abuse that Subarus won't. The head gaskets haven't really been an issue in years (though it was a problem for far longer than it should have been). The CVT requires fluid changes every 4ish years or at most 60k miles. Subaru of America pretends it can go 100k without it, and that's not true. The manual in most countries says 60k miles. That said, I drive a 2020 Subaru and like it.
CX-50 is a better Outback, in nearly every way
Dang. I was planning to get a used 2022 Outback. Now I need to rethink. Unfortunately RAV4, CRV, and CX-5, none of them are spacious as outback (particularly second row).
Dude..: little bit of space compromise for a decade of trouble free operation versus a maintenance queen with squeaks and rattles!!! Hindsight is always 20/20….

Donno about outback, but I have an ascent which I feel does not have the same level of refinement…lots of squeaks and rattles etc… In that category I think it’s not a good idea to deviate from Toyota or Honda imo…
