Switched jobs right after receiving green card 5 years ago. Will this become an issue?

5 Years ago I switched jobs right after a green card approval because a bunch of my coworkers got laid off. Pretty soon I’m applying for naturalization… will this job change become an issue? I’m like more American than most Americans and not Indian. (Have dressed up as GI Joe for 2 halloweens in my childhood and the legendary headless horseman from scooby doo in 4th grade)

It can be. How long did you work? I think they only look at last 5 years of history so you should apply accordingly. Search online and ask a few attorneys

You’ll be fine. If they ask, answer honestly. For example saying that The layoff created an organization structure in which your career aspirations were not no longer aligned. Or that your role had no further growth after the reorg and you had to look aside for career growth are all understandable reasons. Or the reorg changed your role and you applied outside to find a better fit equivalent old role. Off course paying a couple $100 for a consult with lawyer will get a better answer.

So the job I took was as a Engineering Manager after getting the green card as a regular Software Engineer. Do you think that growth opportunity would be a good reason?

I don't understand the problem. Are you concerned that you were not allowed to switch jobs since the green card was just approved but not physically in your hands?

You should be okay. Companies don't report people leaving to ucis as it cost money to report. Enjoy your citizenship. America needs people like you who are loyal.
