I took 2 months of short term disability to deal with severe depression. Upped my meds & did a lot of therapy, and was a lot more functional when I went back to work. But that didn’t last, and after a few weeks I’m back to low energy, not eating, unable to focus/think clearly, thinking I’m a stupid sack of shit, wanting to drive the car off the bridge when I have to commute, etc. I’ve tried ~8 different antidepressants over the years. Insurance is shit and would require me to re-try like 3 of them before covering other options like ketamine or TMS. Have some savings but also a mortgage & family in HCOL area. What are my options with work at this point? #depression #mentalhealth Blind tax: 310k

First I wanna say self-help works. Take baby steps and aim to get better: 1. excercise: Aim at 30 min excercise daily. A walk counts too. If you are unable to get out of the house, hire a personal trainer to coach to motivate you getting out, if you have family or friends who can help this it is even better. 2. nutritions: Take vitamin D, omega fish oil, probiotics 3. social: Have lunch with coworkers at work. Join friends‘ gathering even some times you don’t wanna go. But trust me, once you are out there things will be much better. Visit family and friends more frequently. 4. have a pet: This does magic if you are far from home. I‘ve been there and I crawled my way out. The first few steps are very hard because depression is basically a low dopamine baseline state that inhibits the motivation. But you have to help yourself and take these mini steps. Things will get much better trust me.
Pray to god every day brother. Life is beautiful, step back. You might be pushing yourself too hard. Living looks different for everyone. Enjoy what you can.
Be happy you ate being paid so well. Why did you take time off?
