I'm working on a side project. To keep it very short, it's essentially a windows task + system resource manager but slightly more effective and interactive. It's fun and i'm enjoying it, but also wondering in the end, what'll come of it? I guess I'll replace my current task manager with it, but beyond that, will it be of use? In terms of employability I guess. Don't really care much if it doesn't lead to anything since it's fun though. Asking as a new grad
When you are able to show a working product in your CV (link to your GitHub) then you’re like light years ahead of any interview process. Most of devs say that they can code but it is still not that common to see their products.
Who knows? Do it and talk about it and see where it goes. Remember that Google was originally a university research project, and Facebook was origimaly meant for a handful of friends. You don't need to have your unicorn business plan ready on day 1.

If it is publicly available, link it on your resume. If not, blog about it in depth and link that blog post in resume.
Gotcha. I'm still in the early stages of the project but I'm taking notes on how I'm doing certain implementations, so I guess when I'm done I'll aggregate it into a blog.
