I want to turn 26 again!

31F , recently had a baby and also gained close to 10 kg during covid. No time for the gym because of a full time job and 6 months old. I was active throughout my 20s(up till 26), lift heavy, regular dance/yoga over the weekends. I want to go back to the same physique, but it almost looks impossible to lose 15kg. I was never overweight and my current weight has affected my self image a lot. I have been trying to follow a better diet but my progress is so slow that I give up before a month passes. Anyone faced a similar mental block? And any practical tips to stay disciplined to do a workout at home. PS: I have the basic knowledge of macros and workout/stretching.i lack discipline and motivation right now. I guess I feel best working out in a group, that's why going to the studios for dance classes and gyming worked for me before covid. I couldn't stay consistent at home during covid and now it almost seems impossible.

Take subscription of a health app (dietician + gym coach). They will guide you how to adjust your meals (without making drastic changes). They will guide to take 10k walk daily. Sometimes, we get lazy to follow the routine but with subscription, they will keep checking with you and you will be encouraged to follow their routine.

Go for walks with the baby every day, good for you and the baby, you’ll lose the weight in no time.

+1 for walks. My sister was in a similar situation. She swears by intermittent fasting (only eating lunch and dinner. So eating between 1pm to 7pm which helps cut out useless snacking) and taking long walks with her baby. You can easily drop tons of weight from the pregnancy that way! Also since you were active and in shape prior your body will have no trouble reverting back to that shape!

make the time.

Have you considered working less? Or not at all and spending that time on yourself and your kid. It's your choice.

Can't do! I am a single mom

Ah ok - I hope you can make time for your kid.

I did and most new moms feel this way. You have got some suggestions here but remember one thing, post pregnancy is a new baseline. Your body will be different. You will have mixed feelings, emotional about it as you have birth, and also miss your old body. Work towards a new goal, not towards your old body. Be gentle and kind towards yourself and be patient, there is a long road ahead.

Have not read all the other comments... but just to beat a dead horse you don't out workout weight you want to lose. You diet it off. And if you aren't a little hungry it isn't working. This is the horrible shitty truth of losing weight. If you can afford one of the weight loss drugs I recommend giving them a try. See if you are one of the lucky 66% who don't have bad side effects. Otherwise enjoy eating less and being more hungry, or staying the same/gaining weight and feeling bad, but not hungry. Thems the options, and then you get old and die either way *shrug*

sadly, so true.

Nursing moms are not supposed to be hungry! What applies to rest of population doesn’t apply when you have another human depending on your body.

Take your baby in stroller and go for walk.. daily! Do more than 10k steps (combined morning and evening)

This^. I am saying this as someone who has achieved and surpassed his fitness goals in last year or so while being a new dad. Also before the feminist party comes over and try to tell me how it is different and how it much harder for mother and what not I will just put it out there yes it is there is no doubt about it and anyone who denies is delusional. But there are many health and fit new moms out there so it’s not impossible. There are only two choices either put in the work required to get what you want in the environment you are in or just accept the environment as the reality. Op seem to be someone who wants to put in the work just need the right determination and discipline to stick to it. Get a cooking service or do meal prep, get groceries delivered, get house cleaners, get part time nanny spend the hard earned money to do what is the second most important thing in your life now your health. Your baby wouldn’t care if you leave them with millions of dollar inheritance if you die or get bed ridden a decade or two earlier. The sad part is most people can picture their lives so far out and make the small steps needed now to fix it. For many months after the baby was born I will take the baby for long walks getting my steps in while my wife can relax without a baby in the house and sleep or do whatever she wants without having to think or see the baby. Although this approach doesn’t work long once they become toddlers they wouldn’t sit in stroller and want to run around and play which isn’t too bad as you still get some steps in running around them.

Yes this mental block is why most people who gain weight are stuck at that weight forever. Need to somehow get over it.
