What do you wish you knew before joining Chase?

I'm happy with my compensation, but I'm wondering if there's anything important to know about the offer or in the team matching process? What do you wish you knew before joining? I got an offer with pay close to the top of the range of L3/senior associate, so I'm interested in hearing how good the upward mobility is as well #chase #offer #software

Given most banks outsource to India the vast majority of technical jobs. Expect contractors, outsourcing, and Indian oriented office politics.

Being friends with Jamie Dimon is an upside.

Depending on your level, upward mobility can be quick or very long or stagnant. Mobility is usually very small pay increases which is why many people will boomerang and jump to another company and reapply to come back in a promo level for higher pay. Very common in the big banks.

Stay away from trading or front desk tech teams that work on trading apps if you care about mental health and workLifeBalance. We always get escalated because of infrastructure failures.

The politics are challenging and you realize you’re not in a tech company anymore

The question is not whether you are currently happy with your compensation, the question is whether you will continue to be happy with the same compensation year after year. In other words, your comp won’t keep up with the market and hence you will feel underpaid after 3+ years. Sad part, JPMC does close to nothing to bridge the gap.

What's the expected salary for a 17+ experienced senior/staff software engineer in JPMC in London UK? Current TC: £140K ( including RSUs). Does JPMC pay well ? Also, I heard work life balance sucks. Appreciate any thoughts.

No one cares about skill here. Its all about politics.

JPMC is only good if you’re a bad programmer The pay is good, but if you know what you’re doing working there is a huge waste of your time The wlb sucks
