Budget car options: Used Bolt EV vs used Corolla/Civic

I'm looking for a budget car. I'm hoping for around 20k price point but willing to go up to high 20s if I really have to. I don't plan to drive a ton, I won't be commuting in this vehicle and I'm a single guy. Probably will drive five thousand miles a year max. Top priorities for me are reliability and low-maintenance, and cost. I do want latest tech/safety features like carplay, backup cams, lane keeping assist, etc so that means something made in the past few years Some of the crowd favorite budget options like Corolla or Civics are going for surprisingly high, even used. A 1-3 year old used Corolla is selling for about the same price as MSRP, around $25k I noticed 2023 Bolt EVs are significantly cheaper, going for 18k-22k. EV is appealing to me because of a lack of need of traditional maintenance like oil changes. And the lower price point is appealing too and also I have access to free charging. But I'm a little suspicious about why the market values a used Corolla/Civic so much higher than a used Bolt EV. I don't know much about cars but on paper the Bolt has so many more pros. Why is it so cheap in comparison, am I missing anything?

Used model 3 is under 30k

Used EVs are cheaper because the tax deduction opportunity is lost I think. All of these are good options. It has been imprinted in people's minds that corolla and civic are benchmark for reliability and cost effective. Bolt EVs are not the first you think of when you think about EVs. Also isn't Bolt model being stopped or stopped already? Discontinued models go out of demand quickly

They're skipping 2024 and will relaunch in 2025 with a new platform Is Bolt less reliable than Corolla or is that just public perception? Will the discontinued platform make it harder to get service for previous model Bolt?

Bolt being less reliable is just the perception imo. The disconued .model being harder to service (true or not) is probably why it's priced lower.

As a big fan of EV I will not buy a used EV.

Why not?

Uncertainty in battery health. The replacement cost of the battery is huge.
