For us Canadians in the US: Process for getting Tourist visa

Hi all, I am a Canadian Citizen in the US. I just lost my job with Amazon and my L-1B VISA expires in 60days (after grace period ends). I understand that I can go back to Canada, and then re-enter the US as a visitor, but since I already have an apartment / Washington drivers license / bank account in the US, is there a chance that my visitor visa into the US may get denied? I do have significant financial resources back in Canada (with CIBC in Canada) which proves that I do wish to return to Canada. I am just worried that I may not be able to get back in to the US. My goal is to get a job in the US on a TN visa. But I need to first enter on a visitor visa so I can start applying for jobs. I am NOT going to tell the border official that I plan to work in the US. Thoughts? Is there a chance that I may not be able to reenter the US?
