As someone laid off before I just applied to jobs via postings / reaching out to network for referrals. Out of curiosity has anyone used these firms before? I think one name that comes to mind is Hewlett Consulting Partners. I always assumed they were useless and mosquito type firm that get paid to do nothing but companies keep buying their services.
I did, it was invaluable. They had counselors, office space to work on resumes or applications, and meetings with mid senior and up fellow job seekers. The services helped me focus my approach to finding my next role and helped keep me sane.
Useless but get your resume reviewed for formatting, otherwise total waste of time. YMMV
It was shit. The counselor was babysitting his grandson while talking to me😂
I was very hesitant at first to sign up, but it was great. I used the resume services and had monthly/bi-monthly meetings with my coach. It was a rollercoaster. If nothing else, it was like "free" (included with my layoff package) therapy.
I always figured it was a PR move.
