How do you account for protein?
None of my household members lift weights on a daily basis . The kiddos get chicken/ eggs in their lunch . We concluded that the protein we consume once/twice a week ( chicken or mutton curry) is good enough. It’s either simple/ complex carb with veggies or simple starch with protein and veggies or just protein and veggies . Protein and veggies alone doesn’t keep our taste buds satisfied so we chose the carbs+starch but mindful of total calorie count since our only form of exercise is cardio. Protein secretly adds up calories and we want to avoid that. Example - rice and chicken curry or biryani is worse than rice and dal + pickles+ papad + veg (calorie wise and wholesome nutrition also ). We stick to yogurt only when it comes to dairy . We avoid all sorts of cheese (including paneer). We also concluded that 10 mins of heart pumping activity / day is good enough for longevity and heart health , blood pressure etc
eggs/prantha Dal/rajma/chole

How do you account for protein? These are all carbs, which do not make you full
Chicken and dal for protein. Yes there are a lot of carbs. Idk what to make
Rice, dal, lots of variety of veggies, chicken fish and eggs.. roti and parata. Poori occasionally and buy un cooked rotis.. idli, dosa, chutney, bread and omelette, bagels with cream cheese etc for breakfast.. usually half an hour for cooking and half an hour for cleaning.
How much chicken do you freeze at a time ? Do you thaw over the night?
A rule at my home is to get fresh chicken and cook( mostly curry or grill) , eat and if leftover is there keep in fridge . Same with fish and prawns. I do not keep any meet in freezer.
OP asking for protien, i have one of those everyday in breakfast usually
Rajma, Chole, Dal-chawal, roti, raita, salads, sabzi, chicken, some fish curry. My spouse is vegetarian so there are always veggies options available. Try to restrict carbs as desi food can usually mean lots of simple carbs. Whole wheat roti, oats, besan. etc.
Are you not allowed to cook non veg at home ? How do you feel about not being to eat chicken biryani together? Or not being able to share non veg food at a restaurant
