“I’m an adult and I know what I saw/heard/did.” Or, time for a new boss.
"your reality is not the same as my reality"
example?
Shifting blames, denying and ignore what’s really happening, telling you what you should feel when you feel completely different, and force labels on you.
Why tf is feelings coming into picture at work? For blames/issues, document things in writing. Move all communications in writing. If they ask you to do something, summarize it in an email and send it to them for confirmation. Or have them email it to you
Time to find yourself another boss (team) or job. There’s no succeeding under a toxic manager. Been there, done that—paid the price.
Can confirm. You'll probably just end up in therapy.
Depends what your goal is. Do you want to make the team successful at all costs? Then try to help the boss improve their behavior. Speak with other colleagues , gather data, provide feedback. You need to be tactful but don't allow them to walk all over you. It will be a mental and emotional burden but some people can change. If you're not willing to pay that price and just want to retain your sanity, find a different manager. Ideally on your way out be truthful as to why you are leaving so that at least they are aware of what they're doing wrong.
Thank you. Very valuable info. I want to change it, if I cannot then I’ll go.
I doubt how successful it is to change boss’ behavior. People don’t change. I tried and failed. It’s a thin line to walk because they have 1000 ways to retaliate.
Do you guys get a discount on Porsche cars or allocations for cars like the 911?
Yes, but the most popular benefit is a car program where employees pay a few hundred dollars per month (depending on their band level, the price can lower to $100 - $200) and have the freedom to choose from a selection of cars they like, such as the 911, Taycan, Macan, 718, etc. They can also customize the design. The company covers insurance and maintenance, and every six months, employees have the option to switch to another car. It's kind of like renting a Porsche from the company but at a really cheap price.
That is really awesome. My advice would be to utilize that to burn off any headaches your boss gives you. Take the 911 on some windy roads and you’ll forget all about him 🙂
Run away.
