$3K for exec resume + LinkedIn review

Hi I’m hitting a bamboo ceiling in my career…I talked to an award winning resume writer who charges $3K for re writing my resume, as well as a LinkedIn review. Is it worth it? Anyone who’s used such services and deem them worthwhile? Thank you!

Ask them this question! You are paying them $3K, they should be able to answer this.

How does one win an award for resume writing? Also you can get Exec coaching for 1-2k and they will probably talk to you 1:1 for an hr and suggest improvements to you resume and LinkedIn along with other insightful suggestions. Haven’t done it, but it makes more sense to me than 3k just for resumes and LinkedIn vs working with someone who actually made it to the L8-L10 level.

$3k seems pricey but maybe that's because I charge a lot less heh. What level exec roles are you applying for? Not to anger the spam gods, but $3k is the equivalent of 6 weeks of my career coaching. Happy to share details in a DM so you have another data point. 26 yoe tech, 17 yoe coaching

Aah coaches aka people who couldn't move ahead in their career and now will tell other people how to be mediocre

For me it's about falling out of love with tech. I care more about helping people, because it's more fulfilling and the impact is longer lasting.

At the exec level it's much more about who you know than the resume.

Award winning? When do they hold the Oscars for writing resumes? I want to watch. I think you can set their “award” aside and consider the question solely on the merits of the results they have delivered for others and whether previous clients got the outcomes they wanted or not.

They were awarded upvotes on LinkedIn

I dont think your resume is the problem. Your network and experience should matter a lot more by this stage in your career.
