Currently going into month 8 on focus. Reason why it’s been so long is bc we don’t meet weekly and it it’s inconsistent when we do; sometimes even once a month. I don’t trust site HR bc they’re infamous for leaking info, so I escalated to the ERC which they only in turn kicked it back to site HR. I am self-critical on performance goals and knowing where I have opportunities. I can attest that I’m not a bottom-performer, just that I don’t have a great relationship with my OM. My OM is highly critical of me but holds her other AM’s to a lower standard but categorizes them as bar-raisers. I don’t fit in and I’m not sure what to do yet. I know there’s wrong-doing/favoritism but I don’t even want to fight the focus anymore. I’m in year 2 at Amazon & the last of my 2-year stock vest is done on May 15th. Should I PTO next week to ensure I don’t get offered Pivot between now and next Wednesday?
SDE?
PTO might not stave off Pivot if they were so inclined to rob you of your vest, but it can't hurt. Given that you're 8 months into focus, I don't exactly see them rushing to close things out. Also, the vest should happen even if you're on pivot, right? how much time do they give to the employee to accept/decline?
Any idea when does the PIP timer start? Is it from the day the pip papers are served or the next day ? You will have 5 days to accept the severance or serve PIP. If you have leaves apply it, so that you can get both the severance and stock vesting.
How much time does it take for a manager to put their direct on focus in Amazon? For internal transfer, how fast should one click on "Apply" button? I have a verbal offer to change my team internally. My friends at Amazon have suggested to set up a 1:1 call with my manager and inform him verbally and then click on "Äpply" button after the call. I am a bit worried that he may put me in focus in 1 minute during the call itself. What if he hits focus button simultaneously as I hit Apply button? Should I cancel the 1:1 meeting and just hit Apply ? I am afraid if he clicks first
For what it may be worth, if your manager has decided to put you on Focus then there is nothing you can do. In my case, I had a verbal offer, told my manager I am leaving and discuss the last date with the new manager. 1 week later I was put on focus and the new team rescinded their offer 🤷♂️
