Low salary, but get off for summer and winter break, and a school day is not 8 hours. (School year is 180 days). Plus they get a pension
Managing a classroom is extremely hard and under appreciated skill.
Amazon - do you really think living off $50k year is overpaid?
It's overpaid for the qualifications and work. They should all be required to work 4 hours extra to make it a 12 hour shift, and weekends too cover for the extra breaks. Their salaries should be based upon bids and contract negotiations.
A masters degree, very high importance role, demanding work (new plans daily, needing to hit scores, grade papers) and managing a team of 30+ unruly students?
Teachers around me make mid 100s and close to 200 if tenured. Seattle area. I think that's pretty good given the amount of time they work. Also, one of the highest paid ones teaches gym. A fat ass that does nothing.
Inaccurate and moronic
Kiteman, what do you get from lying? Public teacher salaries are posted online.
Underpaid. If it is fairly paid then more people will choose it. It is hard to see that the people who mould the future generations is stuck in a job with not much future
Are there not enough who choose it?
No. Schools are severely understaffed.
Paid very fairly when you consider they only have to work for half the year
Yet another IQ 75 Amazon worker
Absolutely egregiously underpaid, and our whole society suffers for it
Teachers are way underpaid for the value they bring in shaping the next generation's future, some of the people posting shit here don't realize how hard it is to run a classroom. Also, teachers don't get paid during the summer break. All in all I feel it's an under appreciated job with low pay
Teachers should be paid more. But it should also be harder to become one, easier to be fired, and they should be held more accountable to how much they actually improve their students. Right now, it's a backwater for everyone who failed their original major and who wants to join unions that lobby against standardized tests that measure their performance. And against charter school competition. They mutilated No Child Left Behind and every other attempt to measure their performance over the past three decades. Simply paying them more, on its own, won't save our educational system.
Teacher performance is mainly due to the selection effect of who is in their classroom. I agree the teachers unions are mostly a malign force at this point but the dreams of improving schools with a better caliber of teacher is mostly just that, a dream.
Teachers are under paid. Managing kids in school is harder than fixing lines of code written 10 yrs ago. I have seen many such during my time at Amazon who had little respect for others/ other professionals. Life will teach a lesson
How did you get hired at Amazon with such low IQ
I'm a top tier performer
Amazon’s bar is on decline
