Bay Area housing: the people left may never be able to come back

It’s kind of big life decision unless you are retired. Yes, you leave for a lower cost of living area, and it feels great. What if later you find the weather is bad, the pay is too low, the job market is too cool? Just remember you may never ever be able to afford to come back. It should be an important factor to consider.

Absolute clown post.

Meta snakebiteA OP Apr 25

Which part of it is f*cking clown to you? It’s barely a kind reminder of a factor people should consider when choose to leave.

Transformco sorrybutno Apr 25

You're not saying anything new. "Did u know if u move away from a high COL area u could not afford it if u move back?" No shit, bud. That's probably WHY they moved in the first place.

Why would anyone retire back in the Bay? I assume that's what you mean by come back?

Meta snakebiteA OP Apr 25

Not just retire. What if you miss the job market or weather in Bay Area?

Google joshallen0 Apr 25

😂

Rackspace hjabhurbho Apr 25

Why would you want to come back to a place where you can’t miss a day without seeing drug addicts walking around like zombies, while stores and cars get jacked and cops do nothing

Amazon QAAV25 Apr 25

But why would you want to

Tesla ermusk Apr 25

They don’t even want to come back. If they do, most likely it’s via subconscious peer pressure, or inability to adjust to new place. It appears that you simply want to justify your decision of paying high prices to secure a house/property. It’s only going downhill from here. :)

Coherent GWLT80 Apr 25

Seriously? Stay somewhere expensive because if you leave you might not be able to come back when it's more expensive? How about this? Don't leave and when it becomes more expensive you won't be able to afford it. How is that better?

Meta snakebiteA OP Apr 25

Let’s say house price double in US in next 10 years. In low cost area. It’s 500k to 1M In Bay Area, it’s 2M to 4M.

Tesla ermusk Apr 25

You assume the appreciation will be uniform across all geographies. In addition, you assume prices will always go up.

The only good things about the bay are the weather and the job market Eventually people will realize that the weather isn’t all that important and the $$$ doesn’t get you shit there Leave the bay and be happy

Amazon oIFW35 Apr 26

State Farm bean0 Apr 26
