Boosting Work Experience for Airbnb Chances: Seeking Advice

Hi guys, I'm a data science consultant (1.5 yrs exp, Math PhD, TC: $120k) considering a job switch to boost my work experience and increase my chances of becoming a Senior Data Scientist at Airbnb within 2-3 years. I'm curious about quant roles, but also wondering if staying in tech and aiming for FAANG or comparable companies makes more sense in terms of eventually transitioning to Airbnb specifically. I've already worked on projects with FAANG companies through my consulting firm, albeit as a "data vendor". I'm unsure if having these client projects on my resume will be enough to make a difference. I'm concerned about: --Garden leave and non-competes that may come with quant roles, preventing me from "monkey-branching" to a role at Airbnb without a guaranteed offer in hand. --What roles and companies to switch to for the best chance at Airbnb Should I: -Take a quant role and hope to transition to Airbnb later -Stay in tech and aim for FAANG or comparable companies -Stay at current company and apply to Airbnb every 6 months -Other (share your thoughts!) ALSO: Main reason I want to be at Airbnb is the remote policy seems to be the best out of all the big tech companies and the comp is competitive enough. Please share your experience and advice! Thanks Poll: What's the best approach?

Why do you wanna work here so bad?

well I've been checking out their engineering blog for a while and really liked reading about their ml use cases. and also their remote work policy is something that's important to me. I know it sounds crazy to potentially give up a quant job making millions but the flexibility and types of problems I'd get to work on would be pretty damn sweet
