Interview with Cruise

I have an HR call with Cruise. I don’t see exciting news online about the company. Should I consider to interview for the company? Do they offer remote roles or convert the roles remote if asked? Currently, I am not desperate to find a new job. But, exploring to find something better within next 3-4 months.

Which role ? Most teams are remote

Micron fhakdkdb OP Mar 19

Capacity planning

Cruise hfcyeas.k Mar 19

Remote for sure. There are lot of questions about company stability take that into account

You can still interview with them, get a sense of how the interviewers are feeling before you make a decision

Definitely interview. Worst case scenario is that you get good interview practice.

Cruise Cruison Mar 19

Ask if this is an eng+ or core eng position. If not don't even consider.

It’s a shit show in here, you’ll regret it if you join. People are trying to leave and you wanna join ? 🤣😂 You wanna do a career suicide then sure 👍🏿

Cruise pMfF21 Mar 19

Not all. Only about 60% ~ 70% people are trying to leave according to the private blind survey.

I guess you won’t have too much work capacity planning OP considering most of the company is on their way out 😂

Cruise ohyoudo Mar 19

If you accept a role here do so with the knowledge that the company is very unstable and it has yet to be proven that senior leadership will actually make the necessary changes required to save this sinking ship. Internally a lot of the same mistakes from before the incident are being made like moving too fast to relaunch without proper processes and safety considerations. This might not impact you directly, but if layoffs happen again or the company dissolves because of poor leadership decisions you might find yourself on the job market again. Personally I’m staying because there is some valuable training I can get in the near term, otherwise I would be looking elsewhere after 2 years.

Cruise churnpo Mar 19

Why you wanna sail on sinking ship? Soon you will see more layoff in cruise per my report as manager. If you interviewing for fun then its fine but don’t join cruise and later regret.

Cruise Poppy🚗 Mar 19

Capacity planning will continue to be stable. It's a small but critical team.

Micron fhakdkdb OP Mar 20

This role is in Infrastructure team. Is it the same department or critical team?

Just run away.
