Hmm. I think I can say fuck you to a US president and still be alive.

Nice try but many Chinese also say fuck you to Xi and are still alive. Maybe try saying Free Palestine in front of your boss and see if you still get a job?

Really? I have seen protesting is generally restricted severely in China, especially when it can embarrass the government. We saw examples during Covid lockdown, and also crackdown on Uyghurs. Here some people are wearing identical headbands like Hamas, some of them carry weapons, say they are okay with murdering Jews, and have pamphlets saying 'death to America' - all while enjoying the freedom that US offers. There have been surveys within the crowd in several places where respondents could not correctly mention the river or the sea being mentioned in the chant.

How is this chant antisemitic? I can't really understand. Those who say that trivialize and cheapen antisemitism by emptying it from its meaning.

More complex topic. This page covers some of it: https://www.ajc.org/translatehate/From-the-River-to-the-Sea One way to summarize (from Israel point of view): The chant "from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" is considered antisemitic by many because it is perceived as a call for the eradication of the State of Israel and the Jewish people from their ancestral homeland, which spans from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. The phrase implies a geographic claim that covers the entire area of Israel, effectively calling for its replacement with a Palestinian state. This is seen as a denial of the Jewish people's right to self-determination and an existential threat to Israel as a Jewish state. The slogan has been used by Hamas and other terrorist organizations like the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), which have historically advocated for violent actions against Israeli civilians and have called for Israel's destruction.  The use of the slogan by these groups in contexts that promote violence and the denial of Israel's right to exist contributes significantly to its antisemitic connotation.

One can interpret any phrase she chooses and find anti-semitism in it. What comes to my mind when they say ‘river to the sea’, is they want a free Palestine in its original region. This doesn’t necessarily mean that jews cannot live there. Even if someone saying in the meaning that jews shouldn’t be there, still it doesn’t mean eradication, but simply asking them to go back where they came from. Pro-Israelis understand things as they like to understand. As another point, Israeli claim of “ancestral homeland” is a total nonse. They are bunch of genetical Eastern European, Mediterrenean, and even North African, who are assimilated into jewish religion. Genetically speaking, Palestinians have more ancient Israeli blood than current ‘cultural’ Israelis. These are simply truths. You can check scientific studies of population genetics on various jewish groups.

Genocidal comment.

Consistent with what Israel has been doing for decades. No surprise.

People who chant that obviously say it because they understand the historical injustice inflicted on Palestinians and their right to self determination that they are prevented from. I can't imagine people chant that because they hate jews, as if there is no context (historical injustice, displacement, occupation, apartheid, etc.)

Amazon aRLk76 May 4

Not entirely accurate. Hamas has used this phrase as a way to justify violence on Jewish civilians.

The Palestinians have self-determination, and they used it to elect terrorists who seized power and keep engaging in losing fights to wipe Israel off the map.
