I want to apply for a Devops/Devsecops role at big tech? Have been looking at linkedin job posts and companies' job boards but see very few roles which are either lead roles or entry level. Wondering what am I missing since these companies do post their jobs somewhere, right? I live far from big cities(where big tech companies are) and can't relocate due to my spouse's job being in person. Should I approach their recruiters directly? #security #cybersecurity

Remote roles are the most competitive right now, and most of the big companies aren't hiring a whole lot in the security space at the moment. Part of that is because security doesn't have the same level of churn that something like support or a generic SWE role has, and partly because the people with decent security jobs right now are staying put due to economic uncertainty, so all those jobs are locked up. Google/Amazon/Meta don't have any remote security positions that I've been able to find for the last 6 months.
that's kind of what I'm feeling. There are onsite and even hybrid security positions in big 4, but remote only are hard to find
