What are options? Go to B2 Visa and keep applying for a job. Or look for CPT university. I, iOS engineer, actively applying and getting few interviews. But in this job market I am not sure I will get a job in 2 months + grace period. I want to try my best to remain in US for my my son, he is born here. I am not from India and China. #h1b #layoff
best is to find an employer to initiate green card process right away. big techs are choked up on the perm filings so look for companies with no recent layoffs (past 6 months). It’ll still be stressful as pwd + perm is taking around 20 months.
You need to factor in all the application gathering, labor market test, i140 wait time here too. I think it’s much more likely to NOT get approved i140 in 23 months then it is to get it
well, if he can get in the perm application T-12 months, can get additional 1 year of H1b
Why would you be without I-140 for this long
Changed companies at previous company, current company made me wait 1 year to start GC, slow GC filings and I come to a layoff situation before i140 approved.
Do you have any friends from Andhra? Reach out to him to get a concise list of options and what would work best for you.
🤣 the only real useful comment
What is Andhra?
Hey i am in the same boat. Try look in to b2 visa. Apply for it right before your 60 day grace period ends. Like at 50th day. You can do it yourself or have a lawyer do it. I am planning to use lawyer if reach my grace period 50th day. Right now i am at 7 th day lol. But keep applying to all companies. Best of luck.
Hi! Do you mind sharing if you got laid off via pip?
Try EB2 NIW in next 6 months, you have ample time to build your profile for it.
How to build a profile for it?
Here's a comparison between changing to B2 and F1: https://changeofstatus.org/h1b-to-f1-or-b2 Hope you'll find it useful : )
