I put my dog to sleep this weekend but didn’t tell anyone at work

I just think they would think I’m weak or use it against me somehow. I’m crying all the time like a basket case and just don’t give a fuck about their pointless deadlines and status updates and action items.

UPS BfMH67 Mar 12

You didn’t tell them because you fear that they’ll think you’re weak, but instead are crying at work?

Uber charvar Mar 12

I don't think he is crying at work.

Sorry for your loss. Can you take some days off to grieve and process? Take care.

+1. It’s hard to lose best friends. Time heals.

Try not to cry in front of your co-workers. Take care! Some companies do offer leaves incase a pet passes away see if you can avail that. This too shall pass! I dont own a pet but I get what it feels like! More strength to you ✨

I cried at work and got a paid week off from work. Still was given top performance ratings and a bonus for that year. I was laid off a few months later. Moral of the story: none.

Moral : Cry at your own risk !

Oh no, that's super upsetting to go through. I would be feeling the same. They should not judge for you being out of sorts. I hope you can take some PTO or sick leave until you are feeling a bit better.

Screw what teammates think of you at this time. Take care of yourself!

I’m sorry to say this, but the hard truth is: don’t ever cry in front of your coworkers, least of all your boss. It’s stupid that it’s like that, but I’m well over 40 and have seen things. Find comfort in people outside of work; friends, family, neighbors, the girl at the coffee shop, practically anyone else. YMMV.

Sorry for your loss. I feel for you and it's okay to be weak sometimes. We are all humans after all. I had similar experiences. I hope you feel better soon!

Sorry for your loss. It must be very hard not to let it show. If your manager is kind, it might help to let them know that you suffered a loss without telling what it is about.

My manager is more about “rigor” than kindness

I’m sorry about your dog. It’s really difficult. I’m also sorry you work in such a toxic work environment where they’ll use the death of your pet against you. I hope you can work somewhere better.

Sorry to hear it. Your coworkers will understand. Most people have had pets and know what it's like to lose one. Everyone has at least had a friend who lost a pet. The ones that don't sympathize can fuck right off. Their failure to understand is their problem not yours.
