I have issues with my manager due to which I am leaving the team, my last day is Tuesday (after three weeks of acceting the new offer). He is insisting that I stay “engaged” for 12 more (calendar) days saying that I have aligned with your new manager and do two jobs. New manager wants me to get started on start date right away. Old manager is threating to escalate to HR etc if I don’t do his work until May 20th; the work is pure program management work which is outside my scope anyway; (its due to the L7 going on FMLA, but there new joinee L6 Sr. Program Manager who can do it too). Should I raise this to HR/skip as well? L6 Sr. PM. TC:200K.
Wow that’s such a shitty manager. You should contact HR. Be factual and get clear expectations from them. I suspect their response will be - your start date is when you’re expected to transition to a new role and do just that work. But if you have a handshake agreement across managers that you agree with it, then so be it.
