Hey guys, so basically my director got laid off in the last round, and my manager and my team got moved under a director in Texas. The new director is Indian, and every manager under the new director is also Indian. Most of the SWEs are also Indian as well. My manager is white and the team is in San Jose. Basically we make around 30% more than our counterparts in Texas even if our levels are the same. I'm basically worried that the new director is gonna put us on the chopping block at the next layoff because: 1. My manager is white, and team is mostly white 2. We're being paid a lot more than his teams in Texas Should I be worried or am I thinking too much? TC 160
At least change your username before constantly making shitposts.
How is this a shitpost?
Look for internal transfer. Indian manager by itself is not a red flag. Indian manager with all Indian team is a HUGE red flag. I guarantee you that org is not merit based.
There's no other option. Basically between CEO and my manager are all Indians. And their subordinates are mostly indians as well
Depends on what caste each manager is ... Do your homework and find out what rivalries exist between their home states and exploit it to gain advantage... Trust me bro... It worked for me
RIP bro better start interviewing
OP: I don’t think 160k TC puts you on a chopping block. If I were you, I would play the diversity card to get promoted and internally switch to a better grade and pay
Be worried, it’s real and I have gone through it and am going through it. It will be quick, swift with some BS reason on how you or your team is not a fit
This is textbook racism. You’re asking people who have no clue about your Indian director to make a judgement based purely on ethnicity. Did you share how this person is as a manager? No.
How's this racism? Your comment is woke as f. Im asking a legit question
No. You’re a racist. Did you give us specifics about this person’s management style? Any anecdotes that’ll tell us more? No. Indian doesn’t tell us anything. There are all kinds of Indian managers - good, bad and ugly. You’re a racist because I have to explain this to you. I know the difference between a woke and a normie.
This is indeed a red flag. op may not be laid off, as it really depends on other factors. but for better career growth, I would start interviewing
Normally, I would say run. You're the wrong race and will be kicked out. But, you make $160K. No offense, but that's low. Your TC makes you really hard to replace in San Jose. And I bet there's some politics involved that requires some San Jose employees (people don't give up their fiefdom at any corporate HQ so easily), so you are probably fine. And if you do get laid off, your pay was so low anyway that you can easily find a higher TC in the Bay Area. Just throw a stone out the window and you'll find a company willing to pay more.
Only Indians use so many “basically” in their sentences. OP - you Indian?
I'm not Indian and that's why I'm worried!
Tbh OP, you are asking everyone here to judge your director based on ethnicity. You did not provide any examples of their behavior, any quotes etc. what are you really trying to achieve?
