Budget 40k Considering Mazda Miata. Preferably a convertible. Any suggestions?
New driver? New driver should not have a sporty car, new driver needs a larger car, a sedan at least, that will not tempt bad driving practices. Sporty cars attract too much attention for a new driver to have to deal with.
Get a sedan and never use 2 of the doors, duh
I think it’s a good choice. Don’t listen to whoever tells you to not get a sporty car as your first. As long as you drive responsibly, why would the car type matter, right? I said Mazda Miata is a good choice cuz it looks nice, pretty reliable and doesn’t break your bank. Since you work at apple, you should be able to afford it comfortably. Maybe look into Toyota Supra or GR86 as well. Enjoy the ride!
+1 Miata is a fantastic choice. I love how someone suggests coupes may be more expensive to insure. Get some quotes, I can’t imagine it is too much. Another person suggests an Audi S5 which will cost more, be less reliable, less fuel efficient, less fun, and WAY more to insure. I recently got an RS5 Sportback but may switch to a Mazda in the next couple years. I got insurance quotes across a ton of cars. I came from a 2018 BMW Coupe and it cost HALF as much to insure as my current car. Every Audi I got quotes on cost the same to insure which was double what it was on a BMW. Also strange that class of car didn’t make a difference. All BMWs from 20 to 80k cost the same to insure and all Audis were double that amount / same across Audis. I’m on Farmers insurance.
One thing to keep in mind, if you care.. two door and coupes generally are more expensive to insure, even if the value of the car isn’t that much.
Bruh, how cheap can you be?
Just helping people to become more financially informed before making decisions. New driver indicates they’re foreigner and never dealt with auto insurance in the US. Most people in their situation likely have no clue about all the aspects that come into play for actual yearly costs of owning a particular vehicle. The cost to purchase and the cost to own are two very different numbers, which I think is why you see so many used luxury cars for sale that are only 1-2 years old. People wanting to buy the nice fancy car without understanding the true costs to own it, since it’s much more than just simply the monthly payment
Toyota Gr86/ Subaru BRZ
Great car, cheaper than miata, but not a convertible. Also the GR86 is more practical, as it's got a ton more trunk space, especially with the back seats folded down.
Mini cooper convertible, nimble, quick. Fun to drive, hug the road like glue, cute and easy to park anywhere. You will love it!
Mini's are the bottom of reliability rankings, don't promote trash
Don’t buy 2 seater coupe. Stick with Civic or Sienna
Just stop promoting appliances, you're not helping whatsoever.
Buy an ND2 Miata. I had one and loved it. It was about on par with what a modern S2000 would be if Honda kept making them after 2009. It has just enough power to have fun and is a good platform to learn stick and dip your toes into RWD cars, but not so much power that your inexperience will hurt you if you drive carefully and take the time to learn car handling. Having said that, if this is for a teenager, it's not a great car to start on and your insurance company will hate you.
Check out Audi S5 coupe
E92 M3, 32-34k for <90k miles. The only V8 m3 and an incredible car
It’s an especially good car for people who enjoy replacing rod bearings.
Lol, you got that right
