People pleaser, how to leave?

As the title states. Upsetting anyone makes me uncomfortable since childhood, to the point where I couldn't intentionally lose my carma in videogames. Now, I'm very unhappy in my current workplace, it was an extremely bad career choice. But a lot of my efforts still go into work, even though I realize there are no perspectives for me there, I can't let others down. Because of it, I'm always too distracted and tired to prep. Any tips on how to fix myself quickly and not give a shit about coworkers, who very obviously don't give a šŸ€ ass about me?

Wait until you get laid off despite all your hard work, dedication, and pleasing. You start care a lot less making your bosses rich when they canā€™t even give you stability.

More years than you expect. It's not that I don't realize that, it's that I can't stop feeling bad about not doing "the right thing".

I think you have too high standard for yourself, ie you most likely arenā€™t saying ā€œnoā€ as often. Strongly recommend a book to you which I began reading recently: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/55782639-set-boundaries-find-peace There are a few super good takeaways in the first few pages already.

Despite what others on here may say, there's nothing wrong with being a people pleaser at work. No one likes working with a jerk so don't worry about what they think - you are doing the right thing so keep it up!

That's partly true, and this strategy sometimes gives good results. But I'm in a situation where I really want to leave, and for this I need to compromise the quality of my work. A day doesn't have enough hours in it, unfortunately.

From what I read OP is being too kind as a person and people are exploiting that. More importantly, OP is having a burnout, posing a great threat to longer term mental health which can be difficult to revert.

If you want to leave, just quit. Then you donā€™t have to worry about people pleasing. And then you can just focus full time on interview prep

As you age, you slowly stop giving a rats ass about things a little every day. Being a people pleaser is exhausting. Why do you think old people just do and say as they please? They stopped giving a shit a long time ago.
