I have an interview with Steampunk, a consultancy for the federal government. A friend warned about the stability of consultancies with the federal government. Although the contracts can be long-term, like five years, they can also be canceled anytime. Does anyone have any experience in this space? is it really that unstable? I would imagine a company with 300 employees has stability, but I could be mistaken. I really like the company and they’re highly rated. Is my friend just looking out for the worst that could happen? 10 yoe $150,000
If you’re getting a clearance, thats also stability (there or to jump jobs to a new company) because most company’s dont want to pay for them for new folks when times are hard. Theres generally a little bit of warning so you can plqn 1-2mths out from knowing the contract ended Source: spouse in company with govt contracts
Good to know. Thank you.
Most stable consulting work I’ve ever done, contracts always got extended not canceled.
Thank you for your very helpful reply. If I may ask, have you worked specifically for Steampunk?
