Seriously frustrated here. Spent a year grinding LC, mastering system design, and learning DDIA to prep for a SWE position at Google in Europe - openings like this come around just like once a year. When a spot finally opened, I got a referral, applied, and now it's been three weeks of total silence. Feels like all that effort was for nothing. I thought a referral would guarantee at least a rejection email if nothing else. Guess I was wrong. TC: € 110K, 7 yoe #applied #referral #ghosted
Haha.. Recruit gosted me after scheduling a telephonic round, which she never joined. Then I followed up so many times to which she never replied
Spent 3 hours on a take home assignment. Recruiter just ghosted me
I also applied with a referral, but I had a phone screen, which I think went pretty phenomenally. And yet I haven’t heard anything since then. That was 3 weeks ago. And I’ve followed up twice. First was “I’ll tell you when I hear back” and second had no reply at all…
You know what that means unfortunately
I got a referral and never heard back lmao
Referrals are somehow over estimated. A well written CV is much more effective imo.
Did one year of hard work, got the job in FANG was laid off next year.
You aren’t entitled to them contacting you. Referral literally doesn’t do anything other than place your resume at the top of the pile. If recruiter doesn’t like it they’ll just deny/ignore like everybody else What would actually help is getting your buddy to put in a good word to the HM for you
Don’t tie your hopes to one company. Even worse than tying your hopes to one person- at lease that is romantic.
