I was in the Boy Scouts in high school and got my Eagle Scout award. I’ve included it on my resume since high school, but now as a full grown adult with a few years of experience I feel like it kind of looks dumb. I was thinking about removing it, but then my awards section will only contain a single bullet point 😪
It may not add value to corporate jobs but what can happen is someone on the hiring panel could be outdoor person and May love your Eagle achievement. So if everything else checks out then this may help. Keep it, doesn’t hurt
This. ThePrimeagen was even advocating for putting it on your resume if you’re a dungeon master for D&D (because he apparently plays D&D)
I always keep it, and I have PhD and am AS because you never know if some.random white person will love it (trust me they do)
Keep it at the bottom almost as a footnote. It won’t hurt and might help a lot
As a hiring manager as long as everything else is impressive with solid experience you should keep it but say something like Eagle Scout Award (Received for excellence in practical hands-on life skills) or something to that effect. If your resume sucks and you just list Eagle Scout it would sound kinda dorky. I may think this dude is a nerd and probably has ketchup & mustard stains on his shirt.
HAH GAAAYYYY
OP, this guy drewbox wouldn’t hire you, but you wouldn’t want to work wherever he is.
Nah, he just bitter because he could only ever make it to the ranking of Star, and couldn’t earn enough merit badges.
Nobody will hold it against you and maybe another did hard scout will value it. It would be more meaningful if you were still volunteering with scouts.
There are a lot of senior leaders that are Eagle Scouts.
Keep it until you have 3+ different companies on resume.
What’s your other award that still remains? Probably just get rid of the awards section entirely though on the resume.
First place at a hackathon
Put your hackathon somewhere in your work experience/education section. Delete your award section
