Make it so Amazon is under one heading under work experience, and only list it as mid level. And make it so the stuff you put under Amazon is focused on outcomes and numbers if you can. Like increased revenue by x or something. Fill as much of that up as possible. Remove publications. Lie if you have to. And shorten the languages you listed to the ones you're the most comfortable with. And make it one page too

Two questions. What do you mean mid-level? Also, that outcome focused resume seems so gimicky. I hate those. Is it an absolute requirement over being brutally honest about any impact?

PS - thank you for reviewing!

2 page resume goes into the bin

Amazon EkiK88 OP Apr 25

Noted. I will remove the publications. They are all in deep-learning and one of them has > 65 citations. I thought it would give me an edge

Hi Microsoft, are you sure about it? In that case, I really need to work on my resume!

I really liked the topics section. I have used that in my resume after looking at yours ( but made it relevant to my skills of course )

All that the recruiters care is your GC status. Don’t matter what nonsense you put below

Two pages? Trash. 🗑️

Not giving advice here. I just find it interesting that people really list this many languages. What’s your thoughts on having so many listed?

Oracle Benj_Const Apr 26

My first thought is they don't have a deep comprehensive knowledge of any.

Capital One 1cc3wc Apr 28

quite an assumption. Most likely they know a few very well, and the others know well enough to do basic work in.

Oracle Benj_Const Apr 26

Great resume, let me see how well you actually know one of the languages

What do you people think of the “skills” section? As a swe I find it silly to list “web technologies”, “db”, git, “OS”, AWS stuff, etc. At the same time, recruiters might not know better and be just looking for boxes to check. Does it even matter? Should those sections be tailored to the specific role and only contain the tech that’s listed in the role description? Do tech recruiters even read them?

Microsoft chat-gpt Apr 26

I have it

Capital One unky_richy Apr 27

Did you just call git a "backend technology"? Lol what?

Amazon riverreed Apr 27

Only include languages you’re proficient in, or at least differentiate between languages you’re proficient in versus languages you just have some working experience with. Most job postings typically include languages and tech they’re looking for their candidates to be familiar with so just always adjust your resume accordingly for each job you’re submitting for.
