Hi all I'm in my 3rd year of H1B and my current company has started my perm process, the PWD took 11 months and now they have prepared the perm application and the lawyers told they r planning to file PERM next month with a pool of candidates. Im assuming worst case perm will take max 12 months + i140 1 / 2 months (premium) so ideally max 1.5 years more. By that time I'll reach 5 years on my h1b & will have 1 year left. I was thinking to switch jobs because of v v toxic work culture (Just 1 Eg: managers wants us to send email when we come in and go, + always checks us if we r at our desk + pings us on 5 PM and assigns work + late night calls) I asked for job references in my friends & family circle but they suggested i stay here & get my i140 approved and then change because not many companies including theirs are doing PERM including FAANG due to layoffs. Which companies are filing for PERM if I want to target those specific ones to apply ? What should i do? Tc:180 #workvisa #h1b #rfe
Just Curious op , are you swe or hardware? And what's your yoe?
Also , my personal opinion: I know it's super tough, but please try to stay. Because i140 is only taking longer and longer. Plus you never know, your new company could be toxic as well. Just my 2 cents
Ya that manager is TOXIC.... definitely tell HR asap and start documenting everything this prick/micro manager dick says, asks or does that sounds micro-managing or just wrong. What he is asking for is stupid, a waste of time and sounds like he just asking because he is a power hungry and insecure ahole. If he asks, go straight to HR and report his ass. Now this is what you do ... this is a TOXIC as fk manager. Get out asap. First, start telling HR this guy is TOXIC and you want to be considered for other positions/teams, tell them if they don't move you that you will start to look for work. Also, tell them they have a liability on their hands and that they should not let this guy manage anyone. After that, immediately start looking for new work and interview. Dont invest any more time in this team or manager. Invest all your time and effort in finding a new job. Let someone else take your place and suffer under this shit manager. Eventually, hopefully HR and your manager's manager will clue in that this guy is a dick and shouldn't be a manager and they'll fire him or demote him ... but until then.... you don't want to be his punching bag or slave. So aim to get out asap.
He is a pretty Sr person (Sr Dir) who is in the company for 15+ years, his manager is a VP who doesnt give a fuck . I am trying to move to other teams but no good overlap for job roles so far
Such bad advice. What would HR do? HR and skip support this guy. This will just screw you OP. If your manager does something against the comply code of conduct, then you may have something. Read your employee handbook carefully to determine that. Only if a behavior breaks the code then consider taking action. Also, read through what the specific process is before you do anything. DM for help.
