I recently joined TSMC and they gave me the offer with job level X however after I joined they told me that my level is X-1 due to inexperience on certain area (denoted as y) and they have already knew y when I interviewed with them, and they agreed that they can still hire and give me the offer based on my portfolio. I have reported to my HRBP internally but didn’t hear any action back from HR. Should I go talk to a lawyer? Any suggestions? Thanks!#semiconductor #hardware #tsmc
Your offer letter isn’t a contract. While it’s shitty they can basically do whatever they want with your employment including change your level or just terminate you on the spot for no reason
At will employment. So you can quit... Only benefit to you is you could get out of a non compete by claiming breach and quitting. You really think they'll give you a promotion and treat you normal by you bringing a lawyer? This generation is getting stupider by the minute.
Not that simple For example, if they quit their job for this offer, they may have a worthwhile case, but an employment lawyer would know more
So using your logic if I leave my current company and join a new company that has a probationary period and they determine that I’m a better fit for -1 level that’s illegal?
I’m interviewing with TSMC Washington. Mind sharing your location, work culture & wlb?
I don’t know your situation but I would suggest don’t join no matter what.
I'm currently at TSMC AZ. Which team did you join? You can PM me if you'd like.
Salary also lower than contract? Or just level?
Both, salary is tight with job level, so job level is lower so as salary
