Are the schools really as bad as people say? My kid is starting kindergarten next year and a lot of his friends are going to private school or in waiting lists for private school. We never considered private school and we feel we should have
Private school really does not matter until middle school at the earliest. They spend a lot of effort convincing you that spending $20k/yr on elementary school is the only way your kid will achieve fully, but it really doesn't matter. Don't be obsessed with prestige.
I'm a big advocate for public school. But OTOH I went to private elementary school and they taught me to code at age 6, and like three kids from my class of 12 became successful software engineers... I too have only heard bad things about WS schools.
