I have over 5 years experience and it feels like I've hit a plateau in terms of competitive offers. Recruiters are still reaching out on a weekly basis, but all the offers are at max +- 15k what I make now. I'm not willing to leave a low stress fully remote role for maybe a 20k increase TC at best. Is it the economy and everyone is feeling this or am I just in a plateau in my career? Does anyone have tips or ideas on what I should do? I feel like coasting in tech is a death sentence. Only meta is going strong with offers now. Rest everyone is just lackluster. Shits sad when they can't even beat MSFT TC.
> I feel like coasting in tech is a death sentence Why should another company pay you more if you're not growing at work?
Why is high TC a death sentence? Unless you have visa issues, enjoy the high TC while you still have it but just be mentally prepared that you're going to get a more market-fair TC after you get laid off. You won't be jobless.
So? What’s your point?
Like I said, I'm curious if it's just me or if it's a larger issue. And looking for advice from others if they've experienced the same.
Yes - times are grim and companies are lowballing and laying off to bare bones. So I would say to you if you have a job that is low stress and good overall, don't leave because what is out there may give you more money but the price you pay in stress will not be worth it.
