US: You are doing great Ukraine! Fight the Russians! Ukraine: Can I join NATO in exchange? US: Uh, we can talk about that but fight the Russians first! Ukraine: So I'm just fodder for wearing down Russian strength? China: We support you Palestine. We will vote for you at the UN. Palestine: Can you boycott, divest, and sanction Israel? China: Uh, that's complicated, but you should fight Israel first. Palestine: So I'm just fodder for wearing down American strength?
Is China giving money to Hamas? If not they might just want to make the us look bad if they think weak us means stronger china not necessarily about Israel?
Not even an apple to apple comparison. Plus China foreign policy is vastly different from the Americans. Ukraine was promised NATO support before the war, but then was not given green light to join after the war started. Ukrainians are cannon fodders right now.
Ukraine was never promised NATO support before the war. NATO specifically forbids the addition of nations who are involved in territorial disputes as that would automatically trigger a war. Crimea and Donbas ensured Ukraine was never going to join. That much was crystal clear. Ukraine would have had to relinquish and claims on those lands to get NATO membership. The US and Russia made vague assurances in the past but there was no treaty signed and nothing promised.
"China: We support you Palestine. We will vote for you at the UN." - Only the US voted "No" against Palestine in the UN. The statement makes it sound like China was the isolated one but in fact US is the one that is completely isolated in the UN when it comes to this war
Does China have military bases near the US shore? Does China pay bills for Palestinians?
US is not using Ukraine. Its choice of Ukraine(pretty bad choice to escalate and entangle themselves between US/Rus by ratcheting up the rhetoric and ruling out behind the scenes closure).. So US is working in its best interest! Russia as well.. it’s Ukraine and Palestine that are not acting on their own best interest.. (Palestine by not moving away from terrorism as a tool causing violent repercussion against a stronger enemy)…. That’s how it appears to a neutral observer like me who is completely disconnected or emotionally not invested in above scenarios)
Bro, what terrorism are you talking about?
@Google Oct. 7 was terrorism. Suicide bombing is terrorism. Digging tunnels to infiltrate and attack communities is terrorism. Stabbing/shooting/ramming civilians is terrorism. Rocket attacks toward cities is terrorism.
Interesting. Not a bad comparison. But in the first case US and Russia are both superpowers and rivals In the second case China is a superpower but Israel is not. And are China and Israel rivals?
I think Israel here is more like a proxy for the US and China is using Palestine against the US. China doesn't seem to have a real problem with Israel itself.
It’s kinda abstract the OP point but has some level of comparison…Israel = US = China hates by association
