Finished Power Day for Product Management and saw the recent posts of C1 becoming Amazon 2: Electric Boogaloo (feat. Less TC!) How bad is the PIP?
Yup
Is it across all positions and levels? Trying to understand the likelihood of getting axed within the first year or two.
I like your username
Try to get in after mid-year reviews. So that you won't be evaluated for the full year, hence you will be by default safe until year 2. (Though that may have changed.)
Depends on LoB. Importance of business is: (1) Credit card; (2) Auto loans; (3) Retail banking Given that C1 has made an offer to acquire discover should tell you where they think growth opportunities lie. If you're in the CC lob I'd be both optimistic and careful. (If merger goes through, lots of roles will be deemed redundant, but there's going to be a lot of work.) If you're asking how bad is C1 culture is, it depends on how well you can play politics and your LoB. Mandatory forced rank-stacking and PIPs are real. A lot of my former colleagues are leaving or left because it's been getting very difficult. (Mostly managers).
Why mostly managers? Aren’t ICs affected too?
Oh mostly my colleagues are managers and they've moved to different competitors such as JPMC, BofA, Wells Fargo, etc. No idea what it's like for ICs. Assume it's as bad if not worse.
not advisable if u r visa dependent person
Idk man, I figure if we can survive amazon we can survive anywhere? If it’s a better deal / role, take it
Decisions are very top down so make sure u know how to play the game if that makes sense pip is just as bad if not worst than Amazon. Tbh I feel the Amazon pip is actually better lol
Really bad! Your mental health will suffer every six months
Why every 6 months? Performance review twice a year?
Yes
