Move to India to increase scope?

Today my manager told me they’re forming a new team in India where I could get increased L5 scope, potentially doing L6 work. I really want an L6 promo, but I’m not Indian and have never been to India. Also, I’d be getting less comp in India than in the US. Folks, should I consider moving to India for L6 scope work? Is moving to India as a gringo prestigious

I’d become a gringo if I moved to Mexico… I don’t think Indians call Americans gringos

If you’re not an Indian: No. Even if you were an Indian… there are very few reasons why you could (or would move.) Indians move to US in search of a better life. Why would you do the opposite?

Well, life as L6 would be better. No?

Would it truly though?
