Hi does anyone know movers who can help move things from Bay Area to Ottawa (Canada)? Thinking about if I should enter via road or air border… my car is in good condition, Accord 8 years old model. Any suggestion? TIA Tc 200k
U-Haul.
Why do you move to Canada? Could you please elaborate?
I used SDC International shipping when moving from Bay Area to Ontario. I was quoted around 4k USD for 40 Large sized boxes. Moving of Car is different. Its better NOT to drive. Fly in to Torronto. Make sure you export the vehicle and inform DMV about the same. Exporting the vehicle from the borders IS NOT equal to closing the books with DMV. Make sure you inform DMV about this. Else you will keep getting renewal notice! Another point is to make sure the make/model of car is accepted for import by Canada. You will be shocked that Tesla car cannot be imported! A friend of mine had to sell his Model S and rebuy a new one when they moved to BC. Don't move furnitures! Unless its custom made and unique which majorty of us don't own (Ahem IKEA). Things like Sofa, Dining table/chairs, bed/mattress, desk/chair can be sold and repurchased easily. Moving these heavy stuff will be charged extra. Ask the company you are moving to reimburse moving cost or give you a lump sum. I asked for 50K CAD lumpsum for moving. I used only 15K CAD to move the house (car + motorcycle + 40 boxes) and used the rest to buy new stuff as per the house needs. Packing is a pain in the ass. All the best for the move. You will take 1 year to get used to the new area as you will keep comparing Apples to Oranges. Also headsup; many people will ask "why" you moved from golden city to wintery shit. Be prepared with your reasonings :)
Thank you so much
Sorry you are going through this. Things will definitely get better. Sending you good wishes
