Need traffic violation advise(California). Details in thread..

Workday dvsiagen OP May 5

While driving on a small road a cop car appeared and spoke on loud speaker that this is a closed road and I need to turn around and I will get a ‘driving on wrong side ticket’. I made a turn and left. My question - can we get a ticket in mail for this? No one exited their vehicle and the entire incident lasted 30 seconds.

Did you get anything to sign? There is only a handful of infractions that can be done without informing you first

No, no one even stepped out of the car, cop or us. But they have my plates from the camera on their cop car and they spoke on the speaker that you will be getting a ticket

If they got your plates you *can* get a ticket in the mail. They don’t need you to sign for anything. The ticket will be issued to the registered owner of the vehicle, and if the offense was committed by someone else it will be up to the owner to prove it. This is how red-light cameras work as well. (You should post whether you receive a ticket in the next 2 weeks)

Likely no ticket. You obeyed the lawful order. This isn’t China, the authorities quite a bit more reasonable here, your social credit score will be unaffected.

You won’t get anything. If the cop wanted to issue a ticket, they would have to issue the ticket to the operator of the vehicle.

Then you're getting a ticket. Why do you need to ask Blind if you know the answer already

What is a small road? Why did you go past closed signs?

If you get a ticket just get a judge to throw it out. Red light cameras need to have your face visible to stand a chance. That and you have the right to face your accuser, in this case, a cop, who most likely won’t show up.
