Outplacement Services when Laidoff

If you’ve been laid off and your former employer offers you LHH Outplacement Services, I recommend asking for a cash equivalent instead. Why? Because LHH recommendations are outdated, a waste of your time, and you can use the ~$5k+ elsewhere. LHH consulting is based on Bernard Haldane’s outdated methods from the 1950s, which LHH Career Consultants still strictly follow without understanding the nuances of today’s job market. Instead, stick with what has worked for you in the past, or you might waste months on ineffective activities. Also, none of the LHH Career Consultants have secured a job using the LHH Outplacement process themselves. Furthermore, networking might be straightforward in culturally homogeneous societies with extensive, multi-generational networks. It's a totally different challenge if you're a minority or have uniquely advanced in your career among your peers and relatives. Now let’s test it… Can you refer me to your employer? Anyone? No? This is what I thought. Let's try again… With my 15+ years of expertise in Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Automation, and Innovation, I can pay back my salary in 30-60 days. Anyone? Not yet? Cool! Let's try something else… I saved my previous employer $50M in recurring costs. I could be your company’s best ROI investment to date. Anyone?.. Crickets… Any ideas as to why?.. Despite connecting with 2,000 decision-makers on LinkedIn, as advised by LHH, and actively reaching out to over 1,000 contacts with tailored messages—resulting in 200 meetings over four months—I've gained friends but no job offers. Now: you can buy lots of beer or spend a few great weeks at some amazing destination for the $5k+ my former employer paid for LHH services. So consider my insights when you negotiate your separation package. Good luck! #data #dataanalytics #datascience #career #referrals #culture #officelife #workplace

Lhh sucks big time

Agree. But I think more people should learn about it.

Truth.

It seems to be 100% clear in hindsight. I wish I knew it then.

Last time I was laid off and offered the outplacement stuff, I accepted it. A coworker negotiated for the money instead. He did better, I think.

Had no idea you could opt for money instead they didn't even give that option

You can always negotiate.
