Resume writers/review worth it ?

Trying to switch and have been applying not so frequently for two months. Haven’t heard back from most and some rejections. Made me think - should pay for resume help ? Worth it ? Any experiences?#jobs #resume #resume #resumereview

Honestly I spent a day with chat gpt and created a pretty good resume , provided you put in the hours

Gemini is better.

This is the answer. I've spent time with resume reviewers and got next to nothing out. Spent a couple hours with Claude (Anthropic) and had way better results.

As someone who just dealt with the awful reality of job application / rejection - I’d spend the time investing in your network. Reach out to folks you know and see what connections you have and can make - especially if you have certain companies you’re targeting, etc. I bet you’ll have more real opportunities to talk to people and make connections for potential opportunities versus blindly sending in a resume that will never be looked at. I wasted time with a “career counselor” updating my LinkedIn and my resume. Complete waste of time.

Microsoft was the career counsellor from LinkedIn or any other paid service like levels?

If you’re an engineer, I would follow the Harvard resume template. And then I would stop applying to jobs and instead reach out to recruiters/HR directly on LinkedIn. Sure, the majority of the time I won’t receive a response but I’ve gotten much better results compared to applying on their website.

No. If they add something you don't fully understand, it might also backfire in an interview.

I payed zipjob $200 to write me a CV and it was a waste of money. I needed to fill everything. After I filled she wrote me a CV which was wrong. Then she will correct it one more time and that will be final version. It seems to me they don’t spend more then 15 minutes on you

Thanks , I think I’ll just take feedback from here and build it myself

In my exp , just a plain text resume with keywords get you interviews even if you just apply online, no referrals needed. Just make sure apply to job matching your profile. I see ppl applying to 100s of unrelated job and saying i applied to 500 and did get 1 2 interviews.

ChatGPT, bro

Besides the advice given here, i think you have to also acknowledge that the market is just absolutely dog shit right now. I have friends who were laid off from FAANG who can't get call backs even with referrals. It might not necessarily be your resume, companies just have hundreds of applicants right now for the same role and unless you are a near perfect match, you'll get ignored. As others said though, use ChatGPT to rewrite your resume then use a tool like resumeworded to have it score your resume.
